How to Use the Green Screen in Uncharted 2

"Uncharted 2" is a PlayStation 3 title, developed by California-based developer Naughty Dog. "Uncharted 2" follows Nathan Drake as he searches for the hidden city of Shambhala and combats the notorious war criminal Zoran Lazarevic. Alongside the epic single-player campaign in "Uncharted 2," there is a cinematic multi-player mode, as well. The multi-player is not limited to standard competitive game modes; it allows players to create films using the game's characters and animations and even adds a green-screen option to the filmmaking tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "Multi-player" from the main menu. This takes you to a screen showing the word "Connecting." When the game finishes connecting, five options appear in the Multi-player menu: "Matchmaking," "Custom Game," "Cinema," "Leaderboards" and "Trophies."

    • 2

Select the "Cinema" option while you are in Multi-player mode. This allows you to select which film to use with the green screen. Press "X" to open the film, then press "X" again to start the film when "Start Cinema" appears. Your film will load and begin to play. While watching your film, pause at the point at which you wish to use the green screen.

    • 3

Press the "Start" button to access the menu from which you can reach the "Visual Tweaks" section. Enable the green screen by selecting the option labeled "Green Screen."

    • 4

Turn the green screen on by highlighting the "On" option and selecting it, then pressing the "X" button. Only the characters in the film and the usable items on the map should be visible. The rest of the screen should be a solid green color. Now that you have the green screen turned on, you may do with it what you wish.

Add a new background by capturing background video with a video capture card. These can be purchased at your local electronics store. A good quality card will cost about $80, as of June 2011. Plug the capture card into the video cable on your PlayStation 3, then plug it into a port on your computer. Begin the capture using the software and directions included with the capture card.

Import the captured footage into video editing software and open the files in the software. Follow your editing program's instructions to replace the green screen with the video or picture that you wish to play in the background of your "Uncharted 2" film.
