How to Beat Lightning's Eidolon in Final Fantasy XIII

"Final Fantasy XIII" is an installment in the long-running, award-winning "Final Fantasy" series and the first "Final Fantasy" game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was released in 2010 and sold more than a million copies on both platforms in the first week of release. In the game, there are special bosses called "Eidolons" that join you for special attacks after you defeat them in battle. Winning boss fights in "Final Fantasy XIII" requires careful planning and deft use of the Paradigm system, which sets roles for your party which can change throughout the fight.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "L1" in the field before the Odin save point and select "Shrouds" to use for Lightning and Hope. The protective Shrouds, like Shell, Vigilance and Faith are best because Odin casts Doom as soon as the fight begins.

    • 2

Select the Medic/Synergist paradigm and at the start of the fight, buff both characters with more protective spells. After the first few rounds, shift paradigms to Ravager/Ravager to damage Odin, but don't rely on this.

    • 3

Make use of the Medic/Medic paradigm for Lightning and Hope. This is for two reasons: Odin's attacks are very powerful, but healing raises Odin's Gestalt meter. Once the Gestalt meter fills, tap "Square" or "X" on the controller to capture Odin.
