Things You'll Need

Avoid playing during peak hours. Unless you're on a dedicated connection, you're probably sharing your bandwidth. One way to avoid sharing your bandwidth is by using the Internet when others typically are not. There aren't peak hours that apply across the world, but you can expect that the busiest times are when people get home from school or work.
Plug your PS3 directly into your modem. Wi-Fi is typically slower than a wired connection. You can even set your PS3 next to your router, but directly connecting to a modem is still faster.
Use a Wi-Fi repeater if you cannot plug directly into your modem. Even though Wi-Fi is slower, some people don't have the option of plugging into a modem. In these cases, move the console as close as possible to the Wi-Fi router, or extend the Wi-Fi range with a Wi-Fi repeater.
Upgrade your Internet connection. Internet service providers have many packages, and even the cheapest broadband package can still be slow. Consider buying a more expensive package that increases your speed. If you already have the top package for a cable or DSL connection, consider switching to a T3 dedicated line. T3 lines are usually used by businesses, and are extremely expensive. However, with a T3 line your connection will be as fast as possible.
