Instructions
Place your PlayStation 3 on a flat, sturdy surface. It can be either vertical or horizontal, depending on your personal preference. Regardless of which position you place it in, make sure you do not place anything on top of it or next to the vents. The system generates plenty of heat while in operation so keeping it properly ventilated prolongs its lifespan.
Remove the cords from the box. The PlayStation 3 includes a three-prong power cord and an audio and video cord, which has three colored ends on it: red, white and yellow. Plug one end of the power cord into your PlayStation 3 and the other end into a grounded outlet.
Plug one end of the audio and the video cables into your television and the other ends into your PlayStation. Alternatively, if you have a high-definition television and purchased a separate HDMI cable to use instead, use that to connect your PlayStation and television for better video.
Turn on the power to your PlayStation 3 and click "Settings," then select "Network Settings" to configure your Internet connection. Follow the instructions presented on your screen to configure the Internet, whether using a wired or wireless connection.
