How to Do Ally-Oops on 2K9 for PS3

"NBA 2K9," released for PS3 in 2008, lets players act as professional basketball players in single-player and multiplayer games. Players can perform multiple advanced offensive moves, including pick-and-pops, hopstep spins and even alley-oops. An alley-oop entails the player throwing the ball toward the basket to a second player, who then catches it in mid-air and dunks it. Players must first acquire the ball before being able to accomplish this task.

     Get the ball during gameplay. Run toward your basket using the left analog stick.

     Wait for your teammates to get next to the basket.

     Press "L2" and "X" to throw the ball to one of your teammates, who can then finish with an alley-oop.
