Interrogation Detective Games

Video games give players the chance to do the sensational and assume the identity of everyone from starship captains to hardened criminals. Over the years, several games have given players the chance to assume the role of detective. These games require players to search for clues and interrogate witnesses in order to solve grisly murders and catch the culprit.
  1. "L.A. Noire"

    • Rockstar Games, creators of the popular "Grand Theft Auto" series, takes players back in time to post-World War II Los Angeles in "L.A. Noire." The game puts players in control of returning war hero Cole Phelps as he rises through the ranks of the L.A. police force. As Phelps, players will examine crime scenes for clues, and interrogate suspects believed involved in the crime. Players are given a list of questions to ask their suspects, and must determine if they are telling the truth based on their answers, facial expressions and body language. How successful players are at reading the suspects will determine their success at solving the crime.

    "Heavy Rain"

    • Developer Quantic Dream's critically acclaimed title "Heavy Rain" was lauded for its groundbreaking use of storytelling and character development by Game Informer magazine. The "Heavy Rain" story revolves around the brutal murders committed by the Origami Killer. Players control four different characters as they search for the killer by gathering clues and interrogating witnesses. The game's story unfolds depending on the choices the player makes. The line between right and wrong becomes blurred as players are forced to make hard decisions based on the information they obtain.

"Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper"

    • Developer Frogwares explores what could have happened had Sherlock Holmes investigated the Whitechapel murders with their game, "Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper." As Holmes, players will examine crime scenes, based on actual Whitechapel events, in search of clues that will reveal the murder's identity. Besides his iconic magnifying lens, players must use Holmes' keen intellect to get witnesses, police officers and prostitutes to reveal what they know about the murders in interrogation scenes that require players to know when to ask certain questions.

    "24: The Game"

    • Based on the Emmy winning Fox series, "24: The Game" gives players the chance to control their favorite characters from the show's Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), as they attempt to prevent yet another terrorist attack against the U.S. No game based on "24" would be complete without giving players the chance to interrogate witnesses as the show's main protagonist, Jack Bauer. As Bauer, players must get their suspect's stress level to rise to a certain level by varying the tone of Jack's voice in order to break them into cooperating.
