How Do I Split Screens on a PS3?

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) allows for the connection of up to four controllers, allowing games to have up to four-player multiplayer modes. When playing with more than one person, the screen will "split," allowing players to view their own screen independent of others. If you wish to split the screen for your PS3, you can do so easily as long as you have the right game.

  Insert your PS3 game disk into the PS3's disk slot, which will turn the PS3 on automatically. Select the game's icon in your PS3 main menu to begin playing.

  Select the multiplayer option in your game's main menu. For example, select the two-player option in the main menu for "Resident Evil 5" to enter the game's two-player menu.

  Turn your second PS3 controller on by pressing the "PlayStation" button in the center of the controller. The game will register the second player and begin the multiplayer mode, complete with split screens.
