Instructions
Insert a USB flash drive. The PS3 supports USB flash drives. You can't save directly onto the USB flash drive, but you can copy information to the hard drive. For example, you can't choose to save a "Call of Duty" game save to the USB flash drive while in the game, but you can copy the information to the USB flash drive. Once you copy the information, you can delete it from your hard drive to increase capacity.
Connect an external hard drive. The PS3 also supports external hard drives, as long as the drive is formatted in a FAT32 file system. Like the USB flash drive, you can't save directly to the hard drive, but you can copy the PS3 information to the hard drive. You can use the Windows Disk Management program to format the external hard drive. You must create multiple partitions if the hard drive is larger than 32 GB. Once you format the hard drive, the PS3 will recognize it and you can copy your desired information.
Upgrade your hard drive. You can upgrade the PS3 hard drive by adding any 2.5 inch SATA hard drive.
