I'm Stuck Against a Wall in Uncharted 2

In 2009, Naughty Dog put you back in the role of the globe-trotting treasure hunter Nathan Drake in the "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" video game. Although the game usually works well both in single and multiplayer modes, you can still encounter bugs such as getting stuck in the environment. You have a few options for attempting to free yourself from this glitch, and afterward you normally won't deal with the issue again.
  1. Single Player

    • If you're stuck in the environment during single player mode, you have several options to try to fix the problem, and the consequences are less severe than losing an important online match. Your first attempts should just be to roll and jump in each direction you can; Drake may be able to jump out of the wall or climb over the wall so you can resume playing. You could also just pause the game and exit; when you return to the game, you appear at the most recent checkpoint. If you don't mind dying and have the equipment, toss a grenade nearby or fire an RPG at the wall and allow it to kill you; you then reappear at the last checkpoint.

    Multiplayer

    • In multiplayer mode you also have a chance to escape an environmental glitch just by jumping and rolling in every direction, though time is usually more of a factor since you're in a match with other players. If that doesn't work, your options are more limited: you need to make a fast decision about whether to die at your own hand or an enemy's, or to exit the match immediately, forfeiting any opportunity to advance your online character in that round.

    Game Update

    • Game developers often release updates, or "patches," to their games so that they work more efficiently and reliably. As of the time of publication, "Uncharted 2" has been updated to version 1.09, and Naughty Dog has corrected many glitches in the game through those updates, which may correct issues causing you to get stuck in the environment. Update your game by connecting to the Internet: go to the "Settings" section of the XMB menu and select "Network Settings." Once you're online, the next time you start playing "Uncharted 2," the game automatically checks for updates and prompts you to download any that are available.

    Reinstallation

    • If you only get stuck in one or two specific locations, then the problem is most likely a minor glitch that you should just avoid. However, if you frequently get stuck in different places throughout the game's environment, you may need to reinstall the game. First uninstall the game from the "Game Data Utility" section of the XMB menu's "Game" section, available when you press the green triangle button while selecting "Uncharted 2." As long as you only remove content in the "Game Data" section, you won't lose your saved games. After that, install the game normally and continue where you left off.
