Broadband Internet Connection
Having a broadband Internet connection allows you to hook up your Sony PlayStation to the network where you can create a user account. A user account lets you access new downloads for "DJ Hero," such as new songs and updates to the game. Your PlayStation network account also offers a store where you can purchase mix packs, additional songs and other "DJ Hero" gaming extras that are sold separately from the game.
Turntable Hookup
The gaming turntable that comes with the "DJ Hero" software is what players use instead of a controller or stick. The PlayStation 3 comes with a wireless controller, but does have a port where you can connect the turntable from the turntable's cable. The "DJ Hero" turntable must be hooked up to the PlayStation console for the player's actions to communicate into the game and be synced.
Controller Reassignment
It's possible that after certain software updates to your PlayStation, such as the 2.80 firmware update, the turntable controller will become unrecognizable to the console. After such updates one of the gaming platform requirements is to reassign the controllers so that the PS3 knows which controller to recognize as the primary one, which, for these purposes, is the turntable. The controller reassignment is done by going into the home screen and selecting "Controller Settings," which brings up a variety of options.
Storage Space
Your PS3 can store data, such as music files, in the system. As such, you must have the appropriate storage space and capacity if you wish to save your games and record your disc jockey skills onto the PlayStation. The PS3 can store 160GB of memory. If you are unable to save some of your games or get a message about the system being too full, you must clear out some of your saved storage items or downloaded content to make more room for "DJ Hero."
