How to Map a PS3 Controller

Nearly every game available for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) console allows users to select which controller map they want to use. Each controller map uses the buttons, triggers and other controls differently, and this can be very convenient as many players don̵7;t like the default button configuration. To set a new controller map for your PS3 controller you will need the game disc for the game you want to play.

Instructions

  Turn on your PS3 console and insert the game disc for the game you want to change the controller map for into the disc tray.

  Select the ̶0;Options̶1; or ̶0;Settings̶1; menu (it varies depending on the game) from the game̵7;s main menu and then choose the ̶0;Controller Setup̶1; or similarly named menu.

  Scroll through the available controller maps and select the one that you would like to try. Start the game after you have a new one selected. If you decide you don̵7;t like it, select the ̶0;Pause̶1; menu in the game and select a different controller map from the Controller Setup menu.
