If you want to customize your Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), you can use a new theme on your console. A new theme changes the background image, as well as the iconography and font used. If you want to download and install a new theme, you do so using the built-in PS3 Internet browser on the console itself. The themes, distributed in the .p3t file extensions, automatically install to the PS3.

Open the PS3 browser and go to a "themes" website, such as All PS3 Themes, PlayStation Universe or PS3 Themes.

Locate a theme you want to use and select it.

Select "Download." This will begin a download to your console and the file will automatically open.

Select "Install" to install your theme.
