Load "Little Big Planet" and select "My Moon" from the main menu. Select to create a new level or load an already existing project.
Press "Square" to open your "Popit" menu. Select the "Goodies Bag" and go to the materials tab. Select a material that will serve as the base material for your elevator, such as stone or wood.
Select the material and the shape to create it in, such as square shape. Press "X." Create a flat panel or base with the material to act as the support for the elevator. Place this at the height that you want the elevator to reach.
Open the "Goodies Bag" again and select the "Dark Matter" material, shrink it down to the smallest possible size and place a small amount in the middle of the base created in Step 3. This will make the base float in the air without any support.
Open your "Goodies Bag" and select a material to build the elevator with. Create a ceiling and floor panel, then change the shape of the cursor to a flat back surface to create the back panel. Make sure all panels are glued together by lining them up properly.
Align the elevator with the support platform created in Step 3 so that the elevator is directly underneath the platform. Place the elevator at the bottom location where the player will enter it.
Open the "Tools Bag" from the "Popit" menu and and select the "Piston" tool. Press "X" to place a piston from the bottom of the floating platform to the top of the elevator.
Select the piston with the cursor to open its settings. Select the "Tweak" tab. Change the "Minimum Length" to a very small value, such as .5, to allow it to go all the way up to the top panel. Check "Yes" for the the option "Is it Stiff" to ensure the piston is solid and doesn't move out of position. Set the timing of the device to a few seconds so that it gives the player time to enter and exit the elevator.
Open the "Tool Bag" and scroll down to the switch category. Select a switch to use and place it on the elevator. Select the "Popit Cursor" and connect the switch to the piston device. When the switch is pressed, the elevator will go up or down.
