  Use manual transmission instead of automatic transmission. After mastering manual transmission, you'll be able to accelerate quicker both at the start of the race and out of turns, and gain more traction when exiting corners.

  Drive slow into a corner, then accelerate as you come out of it. The key to a successful corner is entering the corner slowly, then turning smoothly so your car won't spin out. Slower cars with more traction are better on courses that feature an abundance of corners.

  Spin out your opponents by following them into corners and gently tapping on their bumper as they start to turn. This extra acceleration can cause them to lose control and spin out. Don't approach your opponents car laterally; this may cause you to spin out instead.

  Come into the corner at a high speed, then apply the brakes just before you hit the corner to drift. Down-shift, then swing the rear of your car outward to start the drift. After your car starts sliding, release the brakes, hit the acceleration and turn against the turn. Drifting properly causes you to take corners faster than you regularly can.

  Take the inside of the corner when you're bunched up with several cars. This ensures you won't be pushed to the outside or off the track by someone on the inside.
