How to Hook Up Your PS3 to a Cable Box With HDMI on Cablevision

PlayStation 3 offers a number of entertainment opportunities not found with cable. Not only can you play games and watch Blu-ray movies, you can also stream television and movies over select streaming services. You do not have to choose between cable or PS3. Most newer televisions offer a number of jacks to hook up different electronics. When you connect your Cablevision box to your HDMI input on your television, use one of the other jacks for your PlayStation. You can then flip between the game you're playing and the one you're watching on TV.

  Pull your TV away from the wall, and examine the jacks on the back or side of the television. Plug the AV cords into the HDMI jacks that connect to the cable box. This means when your box is turned on and playing, your TV must be tuned to HDMI.

  Plug the cable wire from the wall into the television's cable jack.

  Plug your PS3 into a different input jack on the back or side of your television. Match the colors to the jack, in an input such as Component 1 or AV. You can then run the PS3 and cable box at the same time. However, each will appear on a different channel.
