Cheats for Cougars on Red Dead Redemption for the PS3

The game ̶0;Red Dead Redemption̶1; chronicles the story of former outlaw John Marston in the year 1911. As you explore the Old West, you will come across a variety of different wild animals, including many that are quite ferocious. Learn some tips and tricks to help you successfully kill cougars, one of the more dangerous animals in the game, to achieve in-game challenges and earn valuable meat and cougar pelts.

Signs of Cougars
- While cougars are nocturnal animals that are sighted more often during the night, they do sometimes appear during daytime hours as well. Cougars will spend some time stalking their prey before attacking and are completely silent as they approach. If you notice any sudden movements such as rustling bushes or flashes in the trees, a cougar may be nearby. Other signs of an impending cougar attack include dead bodies or animals such as birds and deer fleeing the area.
Where to Find Cougars
- Cougars are found randomly in different areas in the game, but do tend to appear more frequently in certain locations. Common areas to find cougars include the Wreck of the Serendipity, the rocky areas of New Austin, Beacher̵7;s Hope, Rio Bravo and northwest of MacFarlane̵7;s Ranch. If you are looking for cougars, travel to one of these areas during the evening and use bait to try to attract the animals. Keep in mind that cougars are not found in Mexico.
How to Kill Cougars
- If you are attacked by a cougar, do not attempt to kill it with your knife. A non-lethal blow from your hunting knife or a firearm will send the cougar sprinting away from you. If this happens, use your lasso to keep the animal from escaping. To kill a fleeing cougar, activate "Dead Eye" mode and aim for the animal̵7;s head with a revolver or rifle. You can also fight cougars while on horseback for increased speed, but keep in mind that a single blow from a cougar will immediately kill your horse. When your horse dies, you will be knocked to the ground for a few seconds before being able to fight back or defend yourself.
Master Hunter Challenge
- To earn the fifth level of the ̶0;Master Hunter̶1; challenge, you must kill and skin two cougars with your hunting knife. Since striking a cougar with your knife will not kill it unless the animal is already harmed, the easiest way to earn this challenge is to injure the animal with your firearm before using your knife to kill it. Shoot the animal in its body twice, then approach with your knife. If you can manage to shoot the animal in its legs, it will slow down enough for you to catch up with it and kill it with your knife. You can also use your lasso to slow down an injured cougar. Once you kill the animal, skin it to collect its hide. Kill and skin two cougars in this manner and you will successfully unlock the challenge.
