Things You'll Need
Instructions
Go to your Playstation 3. Use the PS3 controller to go to the "Settings" section of your PS3 home screen. Press down until you reach "Network Settings" and press "X." Go to the "Settings and Connection Status List" and press "X." Note the PS3's current IP address. Copy down the router's IP address.
Press "O" to return to the previous menu. Choose "Internet Connection Settings" and press "X." Choose "Custom" and press "X." Select either "Wired" or "Wireless" as applicable for your PS3's connection type. Press right to continue through the menus until you reach "IP Connection."
Press down and select "Manual." Press "X." Enter your Playstation 3's original IP address but change the last set of numbers. You have to assign the IP address to the PS3 because DMZ is set up on an IP by IP basis. If you use dynamic IPs on your network, you'll lose the DMZ on your Playstation's IP when it switches. Enter your exact router IP address in the router and primary DNS fields. Do not make changes to this IP.
Press right. Select "Automatic" and press right. Finish the connection configuration. Go to your computer.
Type in your router's IP address in a Web browser. Enter the username and password for your router and click "Login." Look for "DMZ" or "Firewall" settings in your router's configuration screen. Several different router configuration screens are available, depending on your manufacturer, so your DMZ setting menu may be in a different location.
Enter the manual IP address you assigned to the Playstation 3 in the DMZ configuration field. Choose "Enable." Click "Apply Changes" to enable DMZ on your PS3.
