How to Parachute in Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony for the PS3

"The Ballad of Gay Tony," an expansion pack for the PlayStation 3 game "Grand Theft Auto IV," introduces parachutes to Liberty City. After equipping a parachute, your character, Luis, can glide safely to the ground from the top of the tallest buildings. After deploying a parachute, you can control the speed and direction of Luis' descent, which is useful if you want to land on a specific target.

Instructions

  Find a parachute. You first get a parachute in the Hive Dive mission. Pick up other parachutes in random locations throughout the city. Parachutes respawn, so if you pick one up, another will appear in the same spot later in the game.

  Climb to the top of a high building or use a helicopter to land on the roof of a building. It is also possible to deploy a parachute when you jump out of a helicopter.

  Approach the edge of the building's roof. Press "Square" to jump off the roof. Alternatively, if you are in a helicopter, press "Triangle" to leap from the helicopter.

  Let Luis to free-fall for a few seconds, if desired. This is not necessary, but it speeds up Luis' descent. Press "X" to deploy the parachute.

  Use the left analog stick to control Luis' direction as he parachutes to the ground. Press "R2" to slow down your descent.

  Tap the "Triangle" button to remove the parachute before Luis touches the ground. Alternatively, wait for Luis to land on his own. If you press "Triangle" too early, Luis may die from the fall.
