About the Shaun White Skateboarding PS3 Game

Shaun White is a two-time Olympic gold medal winner for snowboarding, but his accomplishments as a skateboarder in the Summer X Games and beyond have inspired the game title "Shaun White Skateboarding" for the Sony PlayStation 3 console. Within the game, Shaun White has been imprisoned by an evil organization known as The Ministry, and it's up to you to free him. The more you know about "Shaun White Skateboarding" for the PS3, the faster you can decide if it's worth buying.
  1. The Plot

    • "Shaun White Skateboarding" for the PlayStation 3 takes place in a city that is under the control of The Ministry, an evil organization that wants to rid the world of color, life and freedom. When the game starts out, a skater you design faces a bleak world in which everything is black and white. The pedestrians on the street -- also colorless -- seem to walk by in a daze. The goal of the game is to return color to the city by completing tricks and challenges similar to those found in other skating games like the "Tony Hawk" franchise and "Skate." Through the power of skateboarding, you can restore life to this dead city, defeat the evil Ministry organization and free Shaun White.

    Let There Be Life

    • Your skater adds color to the city by completing tricks. The more tricks you complete, the larger the city becomes. Trees will start to bloom into color, shops will be revived and pedestrians will start to take note of you. Your flow meter at the bottom of the screen grows larger based upon the creativity of the tricks you perform. The larger the flow meter, the more areas of the city you can alter and add color to. Your skater can also change the environment around him. For example, if you grind a rail for long enough, you can physically extend that rail into the sky, or have it merge into a bench. This is known as shaping. If you wish to return the terrain to its original form, you can press the reset button.

    Modes

    • "Shaun White Skateboarding" features four different multiplayer modes: Ministry vs. Rising, Go With the Flow, Shaping Battle and Free Skate. In Ministry vs. Rising, two teams compete against each other and the Ministry to bring color back to the city. In Go With the Flow, you can either challenge people one-on-one or team against team to see who can rack up the biggest flow meter. In Shaping Battle, players compete against one another to create obstacles by altering the terrain. In Free Skate, players simply skate around the terrain and perform tricks.

    Reviews

    • The reviews for "Shaun White Skateboarding" have been mixed. Zak Islam of Playstationlifestyle.net states that the game "adds its own unique twist as well as much needed innovation to the skateboarding genre," but also says that hardcore fans of the skateboarding genre who prefer realism in their game may not be as impressed. Metacritic.com, a game-review aggregating website, gave the game an overall rating of 61 out of 100. Clan Hassett of Palgn.com said the game was not "worthy of your time, your patience or most importantly -- your money."
