Anime fans who are tired of watching fan-subs on their PC monitors will be pleased to learn that they can easily view them on a PlayStation 3 console. Equipped with some user-friendly software and a flash drive, you can turn your PlayStation 3 into a veritable fan-sub playing machine. Although AC3 subtitles, or "soft subs," are often difficult to display on a PlayStation 3, a few simple steps can effectively take the hassle out of watching subtitled anime on your PS3.

  • Flash drive
  • Desktop or laptop PC

Instructions

      Start up multiAVCHD. Once the software's main menu appears, click on the "MKV/TS/MPEG/MOV files" button and select the soft-subbed video file you would like to convert for the PlayStation 3.

      Select the "Menu" option. When the "Settings" menu appears, select the type of television to which your PlayStation 3 console is connected.

      Select the program's "Audio/Subtitles" option. When greeted with the "Audio/Subtitles" menu, check the "Embedded ASS Subtitles" option. Next, click the "Create multiAVCHD" button to convert the subtitled video file to a PS3-friendly format.

      Transfer the converted video file to a flash drive. Insert the flash drive into one of your PlayStation 3's USB ports. You can now comfortably view your soft-subbed video file on your favorite gaming console.
