PS3 Game Installation

Sony̵7;s PlayStation 3 console uses disc-based media, meaning when you want to play a game, you must place the correct disc into the system. While certain games are available as direct downloads, new games must usually be picked up in disc format. Some PlayStation 3 discs allow you to install certain portions of game content to your console̵7;s hard drive. This helps limit load times while you play and creates an overall smoother gaming experience. The exact process for this differs from game to game, but the basic steps are similar regardless of the title.

     Insert your new game disc into the PS3 console.

     Wait for the disc to boot up. Some games, such as ̶0;Haze̶1; and ̶0;Metal Gear Solid 4,̶1; automatically install content to your hard drive. All you need to do with these is wait for the install to complete.

     Load the game̵7;s main menu. Look for the ̶0;Settings̶1; or ̶0;Options̶1; option on the menu and select it.
