How to Make the Ground Appear Under You in Little Big Planet

"Little Big Planet" is a gaming environment designed to allow you to create a virtual world as well as experience worlds created by others. The creation revolves around your Sackboy avatar, who uses a device called a "Popit" to make things appear out of thin air. The Popit tool allows you to create toys, machines and a ground to walk on. Grounds can be created using anything sturdy enough to support Sackboy's weight, such as wood. However, these kinds of crafting items must be acquired via Story Mode or the PS3 store to make them appear.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the cursor to "Create Mode" at the game start and press "X."

    • 2

Press the square button to open your "Popit" and then use the arrows to select the "Goodie Bag," which resembles a sack. This opens the list of items you have acquired through game play, such as the craft materials wood, block and plastic.

    • 3

Pick the craft material you want the ground to be made of by pressing "X." Highlight different materials by pressing the arrows on the D-pad. Once a craft material is selected, a list of shapes appear.

    • 4

Select the shape you want to use with the D-pad and then press "X" to use that shape. Pick a shape with a flat, horizontal edge such as a square or rectangle. The shape and craft material appear in a halo, which you use to draw the ground you want.

    • 5

Move the left joystick to position your halo anywhere in the environment. Press up on the right joystick to make the halo shape bigger. The larger your shape, the easier it is for your Sackboy to walk on.

    • 6

Press the top left shoulder button (labeled "1"), or "shuffle button" three times to make the Popit ground surface wider. This is the widest setting. The wider your surface is, the easier it is to get it under your avatar.

    • 7

Press the "X" button to stamp the ground into existence.

    • 8

Press the down button on the D-pad to hover. Next, press up on the left joystick to fly to the top of the ground you created and then press down on the D-pad to land on the surface. The ground is now under you.
