Overview
The purpose of the "Nazi Zombies" video game is straightforward: kill as many Nazi zombies as possible while avoiding being killed by them. You can use a variety of World War II-era pistols, rifles and machine guns to shoot the zombies, plus the close-quarters melee attack. The game's zombies are clad in Nazi uniforms but have zombie-like faces and glowing eyes. The official name of the original "Nazi Zombies," according to "Call of Duty," is "Verruckt," but most gamers refer to the game by its unofficial title. The first "Nazi Zombies" map takes place in a zombie asylum and the second is set in a zombie factory.
Versions
The first "Nazi Zombies" downloadable content was made available to gamers in March 2009 as part of a four-map upgrade. Three of the maps -- "Station," "Nightfire" and "Knee Deep" -- were standard "Call of Duty" multiplayer maps. The second "Nazi Zombies" map was released in July 2009, again as part of a four-map downloadable content pack.
Platforms
The "Nazi Zombies" downloadable content is available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming consoles, as well as for Windows-based PCs. Because all three platforms have connections to the Internet, gamers can download map packs individually or as a group. Though "Call of Duty: World at War" is available for the Nintendo Wii, as of the time of publication, the "Nazi Zombies" game is not.
Mobile
If you have a smartphone, you can download a mobile version of the "Nazi Zombies" game from the Apple App Store or through iTunes. The game is officially called "Call of Duty: Zombies," but many people refer to it as "Nazi Zombies." As of the time of publication, the game costs about $5 and ranks in the top 100 paid games in the App Store.
