How to Make a Heavy Rain PS3 Game Work on 3.55

Custom firmware on the Sony PS3 requires that you do not update your PS3's software through the Sony firmware servers. If you do, the custom firmware is overwritten and lost. Certain games, like Heavy Rain, require certain firmware to play correctly. To get a game like Heavy Rain working on custom firmware 3.55, a new Heavy Rain eboot file must be installed using a PKG file.

      Download the Heavy Rain 3.55 eboot fix PKG file from the download mirror. Connect a USB flash drive to your computer by inserting it into one of the open USB ports on the computer.

      Click the "Open folder to view files" option from the autorun window that comes up after inserting the USB flash drive to view the files and folders on the flash drive.

      Copy the PKG to the USB flash drive or drag it onto the USB flash drive icon that is on the computer desktop. Unplug the USB flash drive and insert it into an open PS3 USB port.

      Select the "Install Package Files" option from the PS3 menu and select the "Heavy Rain 3.55 Fix" PKG file from the window that comes up. The new eboot file located in the PKG file is copied to the Heavy Rain installation folder on the PS3 hard drive.

      Start the game Heavy Rain from the PS3 "Game" section and it will now begin to play using the new eboot file installed through the PKG installation.
