How to Get a Universal Guitar to Work on PS3 Rock Band

There are a number of different "rock band simulator" games available for the PlayStation 3 and other game systems, but most instruments are not cross-compatible between the PS3 and other platforms. If you have a universal guitar, it is designed to work with multiple game systems, and setting it up with your PS3 is easy to do. Once you have set up the guitar, it will not only be recognized by the "Rock Band" game, but others as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip the guitar over and remove the battery cover by pressing the tab inward and pulling the cover toward you. Insert the batteries by aligning the positive and negative ends of the battery to the markings on the guitar. Replace the battery cover.

    • 2

Slide the power switch on the guitar to the "ON" position and flip the guitar over. The lights on the front should be flashing, indicating that the guitar is ready to be synced.

    • 3

Plug the receiver unit for the guitar into an open port on your PS3.

    • 4

Press the "Sync" button on the receiver. The light should begin flashing.

    • 5

Press the "Sync" button on the guitar. The lights on both the guitar and the receiver will stop flashing, indicating that the two devices are synchronized.

    • 6

Turn on the PS3 and play the "Rock Band" game. The guitar will automatically be recognized by the game.
