How Do I Get the Shiva Sisters Eidolon?

Immediately following his defeat of the PSICOM forces that attempt to purge him for being a L'Cie, Snow enters into battle with the Shiva sisters. This is your first encounter with Eidolons in Final Fantasy XIII. Although they are easy to combat compared to later Eidolons, they are your first encounter with Eidolon battles and may be challenging if you do not understand the process of fighting them. Eidolons force you to prove your competence and cannot be defeated. You must prove your worth before your battle timer runs out.

Instructions

  Proceed through the game's plot until you encounter the cutscene where Snow is encountered by PSICOM forces because he refuses to leave the crystal statue of Serah.

  Fight through the first battle. You should attempt to kill these PSICOM soldiers quickly by switching to an offensive paradigm from the "L1" menu, as more will join them until the battle is won.

  Wait as Snow is quickly overwhelmed by additional forces in another animation. The Shiva sisters will appear and quickly dispatch of his attackers and then turn on him.

  Cast the "Libra" spell from the "Abilities" menu on each of the sisters. Press "R1" on your controller to display a list of their weaknesses. This command reveals that the sisters respond to a solid defense, and you should respond to this information by using Snow's only defensive skill.

  Press "L1" and switch to the "Defender" paradigm. Cast "Raise Guard" from the abilities menu repeatedly. For each attack you block, the Eidolons will gain respect, and the purple meter above their name will rise.

  Press the square button on your controller when the meter is full to claim victory over the Eidolons. They will now join Snow, raise his ATB gauge and give him the ability to summon their aid in battle.
