How to Get to the Broken Stair on Darksiders

The Broken Stair is the fifth major area you must play through in the "Darksiders" video game for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. To get to the Broken Stair, you must first progress through the area called the Choking Grounds, which, despite what its name might imply, is a fairly wide-open area. Since the Choking Grounds comes pretty early in the game, getting through it is not overly difficult like some of the later levels, which tend to be a bit more puzzle-oriented.

Instructions

  Play through the game until you get to the level called The Choking Grounds --- the area you automatically enter shortly after defeating the Phantom General boss.

  Look at your in-game map to see a big yellow map marker. Follow the marker until you reach the Tormented Gate. Stand in front of the gate, and blast it with your Earthcaller horn.

  Watch the brief cutscene between War and the Tormented Gate. When the scene is over, you will have four new markers on your map. Go to each one to complete the Shadow Arena Challenges. Each challenge has specific instructions you receive during the game.

  Return to the Tormented Gate, and blast it with your Earthcaller again. Watch the brief cutscene, then follow your map marker into the underground tunnels.

  Follow the linear path through the tunnels until you reach a room that becomes sealed as soon as you enter it. Defeat all enemies in this room to unlock the door to the Broken Stair.
