How to Fight on Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires for PlayStation 3

"Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires" is an expansion for "Dynasty Warriors 6." It notably adds Edit mode and Empire mode. You can use Edit mode to create new characters from a wide range of pre-made parts. Empire mode is a strategy mode similar to the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" series. The core fighting system in the "Empires" expansion is still identical to "Dynasty Warriors 6." Neither mode has any impact on this aspect of the game. Characters created in Edit mode still function the same as the characters already included in the game. The strategy aspect of Empire mode determines who is fighting at what location, but does not impact how the actual fight plays out once it is started.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the left thumbstick to move your character.

    • 2

Press the "Square" button to perform a normal attack.

    • 3

Press the "Triangle" button to perform a power attack. Power attacks are slower than normal attacks, but do more damage.

    • 4

Hold down the "Triangle" button to perform a power attack against all nearby targets. This attack is slower than a normal power attack, but potentially useful when surrounded by enemies.

    • 5

Press the "Circle" button to perform your Musou attack. A Musou attack is a very powerful special attack that does large amounts of damage to any enemy nearby. Your Musou bar must be full to perform this attack. The Musou bar fills up as you do damage to enemies.

    • 6

Press "L2" to use the special attack for your character. The attack used is dependent on your character. For example, Sun Shang Xiang's special attack is Volley, which causes a volley of arrows to hit enemies surrounding him. You must have a special tome to use this attack. These tomes are items that you can find on the battlefield.

    • 7

Press the "X" button to jump, climb ladders or mount a horse. You must be near the ladder or horse to use either.

    • 8

Press "R1" to evade attacks or dismount a horse. Evading an attack causes your character to roll out of the way.

    • 9

Press "L1" to block. You can only block attacks coming from the front. It does not prevent attacks from behind.

    • 10

Press "Square" or "Triangle" after blocking a hit to perform a counter attack. A counter attack is a quick attack that you can throw without breaking your guard.

    • 11

Press "Square" or "Triangle" while blocking, but without stopping a hit, to perform a grab attack. This causes your character to grab and attack an opponent in front of him.
