How to Make a Modded Lobby in Modern Wafare 2 for PS3

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" is a video game that focuses on realistic combat and intense action sequences. Some players, however, choose to add modifications to their game to change the experience. The downside of this is that modded games cannot be played normally on a PlayStation 3 (PS3) system. There are ways to get around this and create lobbies for online multiplayer with modded games.

Game disc for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2"
PlayStation 3
Internet Access
Jail Breaker for PS3

Instructions

  Start the PS3 with the game disc inserted and install the version 1.11 patch when prompted, then shut down your console. If you already have the patch installed, you will have to delete it from your console. When the patch install is complete, press and hold the PS button to end the game, then turn off the console.

  Start your console again with your Jailbreak program enabled.

  Navigate to Filezilla and search for the following directory: /dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30377/USRDIR/. This directory is filled with "Modern Warfare 2" patches for download. Select any patches you want to use for your modded game. The compatible files will all end with mp.ff.

  Turn off your console and deactivate your jailbreaker device, then restart the console normally with the "Modern Warfare 2" disc inserted.

  Create a game for a split screen multiplayer match and begin playing. The patches and mods that have been installed on your console should now be active. A text box in the lower right corner of the screen will confirm this.
