How to Get the Brotherhood Out on Fallout: New Vegas

The Brotherhood of Steel is a recurring faction in the "Fallout" series, though they are little more than a ragtag group of hangers-on in "Fallout: New Vegas." Leaders of other factions, namely Mr. House and Caesar, still see them as a threat and will ask you to take them out. Of course, you can just barrel into their bunker and go on a shooting spree, but if you prefer playing with a bit of finesse and strategy, you can deceive them and take out their entire base with a single tactical strike.

Instructions

- 1
  Play through the game until you get the "The House Always Wins, V" quest from Mr. House. This will put a quest marker on your map showing you where the Brotherhood of Steel is in the Hidden Valley.

  Travel to the Hidden Valley and enter the bunker marked on your map. Go downstairs and you will be accosted by three members of the Brotherhood. Allow them to take your weapons and lead you to the Elder.

  Agree to the Elder's terms. He will ask you to take care of the Ranger that has been hanging around the Brotherhood base. Grab your equipment from the crate near the bunker's exit.

  Take care of the Ranger. Either kill him; wait for him to leave, then smash his radio; or lie to him and say that Powder Gangers are the ones that use the bunkers. Choose whichever option you prefer, then head back into the bunker to report to the Elder.

  Speak with the Elder and tell him you've taken care of the Ranger. He will remove the explosive slave collar and give you permission to roam the grounds freely. If you want to continue doing Brotherhood of Steel side-quests, you must do so now. Speak with the Elder to find out more.

  Find Head Paladin Hardin when you are finished with the Brotherhood of Steel side-quests. His room is east of the Elder's Command Room. He may also be near the entrance of the L2 Bunker. Pickpocket Hardin and steal his keycard.

  Locate Head Scribe Taggart. He will either be in his bedroom or the VR room, both of which are in the southern part of the L2 Bunker. Pickpocket him to steal his keycard.

  Pickpocket Elder McNamara to steal his keycard. Once you have all three keycards, return to the VR Room and access the Self-destruct Authorization Terminal, which is the left terminal on the wall to the right of the entrance. This will give you a password.

  Access the Self-destruct Terminal, which is to the right of the Self-destruct Authorization Terminal. The password you just received will automatically be entered.

  Select the "Begin bunker self-destruct sequence option," then select "Yes." Exit the bunker. Once you are outside, the bunker explodes and the mission is complete.
