Setup Help for an F1 PS3 Car

"F1 2010" is a Formula 1 simulation racing game available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Like the sport itself, accuracy and perfection is the key to success. To win races in Career Mode and rise the ranks, you will need to set up your car with the correct settings for the track and weather conditions at hand, which will vary from week to week and even day to day.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the car's aerodynamics. You can either increase or decrease the downforce for the front and rear wings. For tracks with long straights, such as Shanghai and Malaysia, decrease the downforce to give you maximum speed on the straights. For slower tracks, such as Monaco, increase downforce to give you maximum grip in the tight corners. If it is raining, increase downforce in the front to give you a little understeer to keep the tail from slipping out behind you.

    • 2

Adjust your brake settings. Use larger brakes for brake-intensive tracks, such as Turkey and Bahrain, to keep them from overheating. Decrease brake pressure if it is raining to prevent your wheels from locking up.

    • 3

Adjust the car's balance. Depending on how good your car is, you will be able to move around the ballast to put your car in balance. Make it as close to a 50/50 weight distribution as possible. If you are at a track with tight corners or it is raining, increase the anti-roll settings.

    • 4

Adjust the suspension. Lowering the ride height will give you more downforce but may make the car more unstable in corners with camber or tracks with hills and bumps. The same thing goes for spring stiffness.

    • 5

Adjust the gearbox settings. Set the gearbox to fast in most conditions for fast shifting. If it is raining or you are on a slower track, use the slow setting to minimize wheelspin.

    • 6

Adjust the tire settings. Increase tire pressure to give you more grip. Decrease tire pressure to give you better steering response.

    • 7

Adjust the car's alignment. Increasing camber will give you more lateral grip but wear our your tires more. This setting is needed for slow tracks with tight corners. Increasing toe will decrease understeer, but it will wear the tires faster.

    • 8

Practice and further adjust your settings. Settings will vary wildly, so the best way to ensure you have a good setup is to drive the track and test them. Get a feel for your car, what is going right and what is going wrong, and adjust the settings again if needed.
