How to Play GTA 4 Online on PS3

"Grand Theft Auto IV" was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and was the first game in the series to include a multiplayer option. Previously known for its single-player storylines, the fourth version of GTA offered players many multiplayer choices such as deathmatch, racing or objective-based game types. Unlike other video games, you access "GTA IV" from within the game and not from within the main menu.

     Press "Up" on the directional pad of your PlayStation 3 controller to access your in-game cell phone.

     Select "Multiplayer" from the main menu of your in-game cell phone.

     Select a multiplayer game type such as "Deathmatch" or "Race." Once chosen, you will be transferred to in-game lobby where the match will start automatically once enough people have joined.
