Try two or more different PlayStation 3 games with voice chat to see if your headset works with different games. If this is the case, you should then consult the game's manual or website for further technical support.
Connect the Vantage headset to a different PlayStation 3 USB port. Test each port to see if your problem comes from the USB port instead of the headset. If this is the case, check the PlayStation support website for further options.
Plug your Vantage headset into a USB port on your computer and check the record setting by right-clicking the volume control icon in the lower-right corner of the desktop of your computer. Click "Recording Devices" on the context menu and speak into your headset. If you get no movement from the microphone section of the recording device, your headset is broken.
