How to Customize Your Ride on Grand Theft Auto IV

Rockstar, the developer of the "Grand Theft Auto" video games series, suggested early in the development of "Grand Theft Auto IV" that it would be impossible to thoroughly customize the game's vehicles. Whether they caved to peer pressure or simply ended up changing their minds is not known, but either way, players may customize their vehicles in "Grand Theft Auto IV." However, it is not as extensive as the earlier games allowed. The only way to customize a vehicle is to visit a Pay and Spray in the game and no additional car parts can be added.

     Take a vehicle to a "Pay and Spray" paint shop. The garage door will close when you drive into the building. Wait for the garage door to open--it will automatically respray your vehicle with a random paint color.

     Pay the fee to have your vehicle painted.

     Drive back into the building to repeat the process if you want a different color.
