How to Download on PS3

One of the most popular features of the Sony PlayStation 3 is being able to use the PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store. Players can access this virtual store directly from their console to purchase games, videos and other content with a few clicks of the “X” button. The PlayStation Store features free content, such as game demos and full versions of games. The ability to download games, television shows, and movies to the console’s hard drive allows players to utilize their PlayStation 3 console as a media hub.

  Connect your PlayStation 3 to the Internet either through an Ethernet cable or by joining an existing wireless network. Create an account with the PlayStation Network by scrolling to the PlayStation Network tab on the Xross Media Bar.

  Access the PlayStation Store through the PlayStation Network tab on the Xross Media Bar. Browse the selection of downloadable content available through the PlayStation Store. Content is separated into categories, such as “Games,” “New Releases” and “Media.”

  Decide which file you wish to download. Highlight the object and press “X” to open additional information on the product. To add the item to your cart, use the joystick or directional pad to highlight “Add to Cart.” Press “X.”

  Add as many items to your shopping cart as you would like before completing the checkout process. When you have chosen your last item, highlight the option “Buy Now.” Press “X.”

  A credit card is needed to download premium content.
  
  Scroll to the button that says “Add Funds” on the top right hand of the purchase confirmation screen. Choose to add funds either through a credit card or a PlayStation Network Card. Enter your card information, and confirm the purchase.

  Choose to wait for your programs or to allow them to download in the background. Downloading items in the background allows you to access other PlayStation 3 functions while you wait. Restart the console once all downloads have completed to finalize the download process.
