How to Use Star Power on Rock Band: Special Edition for PS3

"Rock Band: Special Edition" for the PlayStation 3 (PS3), released in November 2007, lets users play their favorite rock songs using guitars, drums and microphone game controllers. The object is to match notes that scroll down the screen in quick succession. The game offers more than 80 original tracks to be mastered--and more challenging difficulty levels as players become better at the game. Players are encouraged to attain high scores by using a power-up known as "star power." Star power multiplies the player's points based on the number of notes they've played in a streak. Streak multipliers can consist of two, three, four, six and eight times the points. To obtain the highest possible score, players should use star power at certain times in a song.

Instructions

Activating Star Power
- 1
  Turn on the PlayStation 3 with the Rock Band game disc inside. Plug in a Rock Band guitar, drum set or microphone. Select a song in one of Rock Band's game modes.

  Collect star power by playing all of the notes highlighted in blue. Missing a note will result in no star power given to the player. The star power bar is located below the note track. Fill the star power bar halfway up by hitting all of the highlighted notes at least two times.

  Tilt the guitar upward so the neck of the guitar is pointing at the ceiling to release star power. Star power will be released and the whole note track will turn blue. Hit notes for multiplied points. Fill up the star power bar as many times as possible throughout the song until it ends. Activate the drum star power by hitting the green note at the end of a freestyle session. Activate microphone star power by tapping on the top of the microphone.
