Instructions

  1. Making the Rock Band Microphone Stand Boom Assembly

    • 1

Put a sheet of newspaper on a table. Cut the threads off of the plain end of the 12-foot telescoping light bulb changer purchased from a hardware store with the tip of the utility knife.

    • 2

Smooth out the sides of the plain end of the telescoping light bulb changer with the rough sandpaper.

    • 3

Hold the mic stand adapter purchased from an audio supply shop in your left hand by the male end. Hold the Bar-B-Cue lighter purchased from a hardware store in your right hand.

    • 4

Ignite the flame of the Bar-B-Cue lighter. Hold the female end of the mic stand adapter over the flame. Shut off the flame when the female end starts to melt.

    • 5

Screw the plain end of the telescoping light bulb changer onto the female end of the mic stand adapter.

    • 6

Wrap the jaws of the pliers around the female end of the mic stand adapter. Twist the pliers to cement the female end of the plain end of the telescoping light bulb changer.

Making the Rock Band Microphone Stand

    • 7

Put the PVC pipe purchased from a hardware store horizontally on the newspaper. Measure four inches from the left side. Make a mark at the four-inch mark with the black magic marker.

    • 8

Drill a hole through the PVC pipe at the four-inch mark with the portable drill.

    • 9

Put the telescoping light bulb changer on its side on the newspaper with the plain end facing to the left.

    • 10

Measure six feet from one end of the telescoping light bulb changer. Make a mark at the six-foot mark with the black magic marker.

    • 11

Drill a hole through the telescoping light bulb changer at the six-foot mark.

    • 12

Put a washer against the hole in the PVC pipe. Put the end of the metal screw through the hole. Put the other washer on the end of the screw coming through the hole.

    • 13

Put the end of the metal screw through the hole in the telescoping light bulb changer. Put a washer on the end of the screw coming out of the hole in the telescoping light bulb changer.

    • 14

Screw the wing nut on the end of the screw coming out of the hole in the telescoping light bulb changer.

    • 15

Remove the cap from the five-gallon water jug. Put one end of the PVC pipe into the water jug.

    • 16

Apply silicone paste around the hole to insulate the PVC pipe from the water in the water jug. Let the silicone paste dry for three hours.

    • 17

Apply bonding glue around the hole and on the silicone paste to cement the PVC pipe to the water jug. Let the bonding glue dry for a day.

    • 18

Wrap duct tape around the PVC pipe where it meets the hole of the water jug.

    • 19

Tape the one-lb. barbell to the gripping end of the telescoping light bulb changer with duct tape--the gripping end is opposite that of the end that has the female-to-male mic stand adapter attached to it.

    • 20

Screw a microphone onto the end of the female-to-male mic stand adapter. Your Rock Band Mic Stand is now ready to rock.
