  Download the latest updates from Sony. Games like Little Big Planet don't immediately support all controller types. Plug your PS3 into the Internet and download the latest system update. Also, download the latest update for the specific game you're playing.

  Try to resync the controller. Reset the system and the controller and turn both on again. Press the sync button until the controller is flashing. Press the button once again until the light stops flashing and the controller is synced.

  Check the batteries in the controller. The controller won't function with weak or dead batteries. If it's been a while since you changed the batteries, put a new set into the controller.

  Plug in the controller via USB cable. Attaching a USB cable can help the PS3 system recognize the controller. Try multiple USB ports to connect.

  Take off the back of the controller and double-check the wiring. If a small wire has become loose, sometimes you can tape or solder the wire back into position.
