Metal Gear Solid 4 Weapons List

"Metal Gear Solid 4" is a popular action-stealth title for the Playstation 3. In the game, players are encouraged to sneak around the game's environments, which include the Middle East and the rain forest, in order to seek out the protagonist Solid Snake's prey. Sometimes, weapons are required to neutralize Snake's enemies.

Handguns
- Handguns are the most commonly used weapons in "Metal Gear Solid 4." Both the MK.2 pistol and the Operator handgun are given to Snake during Act 1: Liquid Sun. The MK.2 has high stability and fast reload but is fairly weak, while the Operator has a built-in suppressor and deals slightly more damage. The Desert Eagle is occasionally dropped by Dwarf Gekkos, while the G18C pistol, which deals moderate damage with a fast reload, can be purchased from Drebin for 8,000 DP or picked up off some resistance fighters in Act II.
Sub Machine Guns
- The P90 gun has high stability and penetration, and it can be purchased for 5,000 DP or found on a FROG soldier. The VZ. 83, which features top-level penetration but a slower reload, is given to Snake by Big Mama in Act III: Third Sun. The Bizon, which deals average damage but is highly stable, can be bought for 7,000 DP, while the MP5SD2, which deals top-level damage and features a built-in silencer, can be purchased late in the game for 15,000 DP.
Rifles
- Rifles are typically used for long-range combat. The AK102 can be customized with a grenade launcher and is found during the Ground Zero mission. The XM8 rifle, with its built-in dot sight, has a faster reload than most rifles and can be found under a shelter in the Power Plant Part II mission. The M14EBR is one of the game's most customizable weapons, as it can be equipped with a suppressor, a laser sight and a flashlight. It's found on most PMC snipers and can be purchased for 9,000 DP. The DSR-1, the game's most powerful rifle, is given to Snake automatically at the end of Act II: Solid Sun.
Grenades
- MGS4 features an array of grenades, including the standard grenade, the smoke grenade, the white phosphorous grenade and the stun grenade. While the smoke grenade deals no damage, it is useful for momentarily confusing enemies, which makes shooting them or sneaking by them easier. A series of rare grenades are unlocked after completing the game: the yellow smoke grenade makes your enemies laugh, the red version makes them go berserk and attack each other and the blue version makes them weep. The green smoke grenade, which can be purchased from Drebin for only 100 DP, makes Snake's enemies scream out loud.
