How to Enchant Weapons in Oblivion for the Playstation Three

Those who journey through the land of Cyrodiil in ̶0;Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion̶1; for the PlayStation 3 can choose to battle using brute force, quick attacks or magic. Players who wield magic can extend their skills beyond spell casting, instead, enchanting their weapons for added bonuses and elemental damage. The enchantment of weapons requires dedicated magic users to venture out in search of souls to use in the process. Once enchanted, weapons can then be recharged to continue housing their magical properties.

      Decide which spell you want to use as an enchantment for your weapon. For example, to give your sword a fire enchantment, you'll need to know the Burning Touch spell. You must be able to cast the spell you are using in your enchantment. Low-level magic users cannot enchant their weapons with high-level spells.

      Purchase soul gems from any magic shop in the different towns. These gems are requires to enchant your weapon, but must first be filled with the soul of a creature. Note that there are several types of soul gems; always possess at least one of each type in your inventory from Petty to Black soul gems.

      Visit the Mages Guild of a town and purchase a Soul Trap spell. You'll need a novice rank in Mysticism to cast the spell. Battlemage, Mage, Sorcerer and Witchhunters all feature Mysticism as a main skill.

      Journey outside town or into a dungeon and search for monsters. Cast Soul Trap on the monster and then defeat it before the spell wears off. If successful, the monster will fill one of your soul gems.

      Visit the Arcane University and locate one of the Altars of Enchantment. These altars can be found within the Chironasium.

      Select the altar and a menu will appear. Choose the weapon you wish to enchant, then select one of your filled soul gems. Choose the spell you wish to use on the weapon. Finally, input a name for your enchanted weapon. Press ̶0;X̶1; to confirm your selections.

      Equip the weapon and begin using it. The enchantment will be applied during battle.

      Use a full soul gem to recharge the weapon after its magic has been spent. You don't need to return to an altar for a recharge.
