How to Put Custom Sound Tracks on Vice City Stories

After driving around Vice City for countless hours, you may find yourself tired of cycling through the same stations and hearing the same old songs over and over again. With a few tools, it is possible to change what songs you listen to while driving around on your motorbike and to be in complete control over which songs you put into the radio.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install Rockstar Custom Tracks onto your computer. You will not actually have to open this program, but it is necessary in order for your other program to work.

    • 2

Download and install Exact Audio Copy onto your computer. Make sure that you install it into the same directory where Rockstar Custom Tracks was downloaded.

    • 3

Download a Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories save file, unless you already have one from playing the game yourself. Any save file should work, provided it is from Liberty City Stories.

    • 4

Turn on the sound for your computer so you can confirm when your PSP is connected.

    • 5

Connect your PSP to your computer using its USB cable. If you don't hear the chime, go to "USB Mode" under "Settings" to activate USB mode.

    • 6

Open the PSP drive and navigate to the "SAVEDATA" folder.

    • 7

Unzip the save file you downloaded if you needed to obtain one. Copy and paste the contents into the "SAVEDATA" PSP folder.

    • 8

Insert your audio CD into the CD drive.

    • 9

Open Exact Audio Copy and wait for it to recognize your CD.

    • 10

Select the tracks you want to extract. Click the button that shows an arrow point towards the PSP.

    • 11

Wait for the conversion process to finish. Close the program when it has finished.

    • 12

Return to the "SAVEDATA" folder and navigate through each folder to find all "icon0" files. The image you are looking for is the one with a man on a motorbike. This represents the save file for Vice City Stories. Make a note of the folder name in which it is located.

    • 13

Find the "*********CUSTOMTRACKS" folder--the version number will be in place of the asterisks.

    • 14

Rename this folder in this format: "[First4letters][First5Numbers]CUSTOMTRACKS" without brackets, referencing the folder of which you made a note. For instance, the American version will likely be "ULUS10160CUSTOMTRACKS".

    • 15

Disconnect the PSP and load Vice City Stories.

    • 16

Pause the game when your save file loads. Under "Audio," select "Custom Tracks" to "On." Your music should play when you get into a vehicle with a radio.
