How Can I Watch YouTube Videos on My PSP?

YouTube videos are not easily copied for watching on a PlayStation Portable device, mainly because of the different video formats they use. If you are looking to watch YouTube videos on your PSP, you need to convert them to a compatible format before saving them to the PSP memory stick. This will require a third-party application that can convert video files from one format to another.

Instructions

  1. Conversion

    • 1

Download and install a software program that can convert YouTube videos to the more compact form for portable devices (see Resources section). If you can't find one that specifically states "YouTube to PSP," one that says "YouTube to iPod" will work.

    • 2

      Open the program.

    • 3

Upload the YouTube video to the converter application; this process can vary depending on the program, but usually you'll copy and paste the video's URL into a box within the application.

    • 4

Select an output location on your computer to save the video to. Click on the "Browse" button near the Output box and make a selection from the drop-down box. Type a name for the converted video in the File Name box.

    • 5

Go to the drop-down box in the program that lists the formats you can convert the video to; it should be named "Devices," "Format" or something similar. Select "Sony PSP" or "MP4" format.

    • 6

Click on the "Download" or "Convert" button, which is usually located in the lower-right corner of the application. The program will make a copy of the video in PSP/MP4 format and save it to your pre-determined location.

    Transferring to PSP

    • 7

Connect your PSP to the computer using its USB connection. The PSP drive will appear on your computer in the "Computer" window.

    • 8

Open the PSP drive on your computer and open the folder labeled "Video." If such a folder doesn't exist, right-click within the window and select "New" to create a folder.

    • 9

Drag the converted movie file into the Video folder window to copy it to the PSP's memory stick and save it in that folder.
