How Do You Download & Listen to Music on a PSP?

The PSP, also known as the PlayStation Portable, is a hand-held video game system that plays video games, music, and videos. With a memory card, you can transfer a wealth of media to your PSP.

      Turn the PSP off. Insert the Memory Stick Duo into the memory card slot on the left side of the PSP.

      Turn on the PSP by sliding the power switch on the right side of the unit.

      Select "Settings" from the main menu of the PSP and choose "USB Connection."

      Connect your PSP to your computer using the USB connection cable.

      A "PSP" folder should open automatically. If it doesn't, open "My Computer" on a PC, then click "Removable Drive (E:)" then the "PSP" folder.

      Double-click the folder entitled "MUSIC" to open it.

      Find the music files on your computer that you wish to transfer to the PSP.

      Drag and drop the music files into the the open PSP "MUSIC" folder.

      Disconnect the PSP from the computer when the transfer is complete. In the icon tray on the bottom right corner of your desktop, click on the "Removable Drive (E:)" and select "Safely Remove Hardware." When prompted, disconnect the USB connection.

      Press "O" on the PSP and scroll over to "Music."

      Press "X" over any of the tracks within the "Music" folder to begin playing. Music will play through the PSP's speakers unless you connect headphones to the PSP.
