Put the memory stick into the PSP̵7;s memory stick slot. Attach the PSP connector on the PSP connection cable to the PSP. Attach the other end of the PSP connection cable to a USB port on the computer.
Download the homebrew PSP firmware upgrade to the PC̵7;s desktop. (See the link in "Resources.") Double-click the PSP firmware upgrade̵7;s icon when it has fully downloaded to decompress it into a folder on the desktop.
Double-click on the folder to open it. Go to ̶0;Start,̶1; ̶0;My Computer,̶1; ̶0;Devices,̶1; and click on the icon of the PSP in the left column. Drag the ̶0;EBOOT.PBP̶1; file from the folder on the desktop into the ̶0;Game Update̶1; folder that is to the right of the PSP̵7;s icon. Wait for the file to copy to the PSP.
Right-click the icon of the PSP and select ̶0;Eject̶1; from the pop-up menu. Disconnect the PSP connection cable from the PSP and from the USB port of the computer.
Put the PSP down on a table. Plug in the power adaptor to the PSP̵7;s power plug. Turn on the PSP and wait for the home menu to come up.
Navigate to the ̶0;Games̶1; menu. Select ̶0;PSP Update̶1; from the list presented and press the ̶0;X̶1; button repeatedly to accept the terms and conditions for installing the software. Wait as the ̶0;PSP Update̶1; software installs itself on the PSP, and then reboots the PSP.
Reattach the PSP to the computer. Download the UMD installation files to the PC̵7;s desktop (see the link in Resources). Double-click the UMD installation file̵7;s icon when it has fully downloaded to decompress it into a folder on the desktop.
Double-click the folder to open it. Go to ̶0;Start,̶1; ̶0;My Computer,̶1; ̶0;Devices,̶1; and click on the icon of the PSP in the left column.
Drag the ̶0;h.bin̶1; file from the folder on the desktop into the icon of the PSP to copy it to the PSP.
Copy the ̶0;eggsploit.tiff̶1; file from inside the ̶0;Phat̶1; folder in the folder on the desktop, into the ̶0;Photo̶1; folder to the right of the PSP̵7;s icon if you have a series 1000 PSP. If you have a ̶0;Slim̶1; PSP, copy the ̶0;ChickHEN̶1; file from inside of the ̶0;SLIM̶1; folder to the PSP̵7;s ̶0;Photo̶1; folder instead. Wait as the file is copied to the PSP.
Open the firmware folder that was created earlier and drag the ̶0;RECOVERY̶1; folder from inside of the ̶0;Hellcat̵7;s Recovery Flasher̶1; folder into the ̶0;Game̶1; folder to the right of the PSP̵7;s icon. Wait for the file to copy to the PSP.
Right-click on the icon of the PSP and select ̶0;Eject̶1; from the pop-up menu. Disconnect the PSP connection cable from the PSP and from the USB port of the computer.
Attach the PSP power supply to the PSP. Turn on the PSP. Navigate from the Home menu to the ̶0;Photo̶1; icon. Select ̶0;Memory Stick̶1; from below the ̶0;Photo̶1; icon and click on the appropriate folder for your PSP. Press the ̶0;X̶1; button.
Wait as the PSP briefly flashes and then reboots. Navigate to the "Games̶1; icon. Select ̶0;Memory Stick̶1; from below the ̶0;Games̶1; icon. Click on the ̶0;Hellcat̵7;s Recovery Flasher.̶1; Press the ̶0;X̶1; button.
Select ̶0;Install CFW̶1; from the menu and press the ̶0;X̶1; button. Select ̶0;Reset your settings̶1; from the menu and press the ̶0;X̶1; button. Press ̶0;X̶1; to shut down the PSP when prompted.
Turn the PSP on. Navigate to the ̶0;Utilities̶1; icon. Select the UMD emulator. Select a UMD game save file that you previously have downloaded to the PSP. Play the UMD game using the UMD emulator.
