Sony's PSP, as a hand-held console with easy access to any PC via USB cable, has become a popular system for the enjoyment of independently created games. These games, also known as "homebrew" games, are released onto the internet, available to be downloaded for free. The primary website for the downloading of PSP freeware games is called "PSP Homebrew". The site contains over 1500 download-able PSP games and applications. The following is a list of some of the most popular games on the "PSP Homebrew" website as of early 2010.
  1. PSP Revolution

    • "PSP Revolution" was developed by DeNITRO and serves as a cloned version of the game "Dance Dance Revolution." As such, it is a game where you must press buttons along with the rhythm of a song.

    ScrummVM

    • ScrummVM is a program developed by LucasArts that allows gamers to play point-and-click adventure games, such as Legend of Kyranda and The Feeble Files.

    PS Pool

    • Developed by BlackPhoenix, this billiards simulator is a port of a game called Another Pool, developed by Gerrit Jahn.

    KETM

    • This 2D shooter, developed by Deniska, places the player in the seat of a fighter jet as it fights its way through intense levels and dangerous bosses.

    Squarez

    • Squarez was developed by GlobWare and has a considerably simple design. The player is put in control of a sqaure, who must avoid other squares until it gains the ability to shoot the other squares.

    Throttle-X

    • Throttle-X developed by AnonymousTipster, is a 3D game that involves stunt racing. The tracks involved serve as puzzles that the player must figure out in order to progress.

    SnakeSP

    • SnakeSP is an updated version of the classic cell-phone game, Snake. In the game, the player is a snake that must eat food to gain points. As the snake its food, it gets longer, and will die if it runs into any part of itself or the wall.

    Spider Solitaire

    • Spider Solitaire was developed by Synopsis and is simply a PSP version of the card game, which has become a staple on any PC running Wndows.

    Duke Nukem 3D

    • Duke Nukem 3D is a port of the first-person shooter Duke Nukem 3D by 3D Realms. It put the player in control of Duke Nukem as he attempts to save the world from an alien invasion.

    Boxy II

    • Boxy II, developed by Ghoti, is a puzzle game along the lines of Tetris and Lumines, in which the player must manage blocks as they fall to the bottom of the screen.

    Breakthrough: An Inventor's Tale

    • Breakthrough was developed by KleptoOne and is an adventure version of the classic 8-bit game Arkanoid. The game is notable for having won the PxP homebrew competition.

    Callisto

    • Callisto was developed by a variety of independent developers and is a first-person shooter. The game has been said to be graphically intense.
