Cooking Games for PSP

The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) does not offer any traditional cooking games like those found on the Nintendo DS (as of September 2009) such as Cooking Mama and Hell's Kitchen. However, the PSP library does contain a few games that have some cooking elements within the game. While these are not exactly cooking games per se, they are the best the PSP has to offer.
  1. Cake Mania Baker's Challenge

    • Cake Mania Baker's Challenge is the closest game to cooking one will find on the PSP. The main character, Jill, comes home from culinary school and learns that her grandparents' bakery has been closed down. She must--with the player's assistance--serve specific cake orders to picky and hungry customers and save the bakery. Jill may not be cooking anything, but players will have to help her bake and decorate cakes in accordance with the customers' orders.

    The Sims 2 Games

    • In The Sims 2, players can create and completely control a simulated human being (a Sim), and one of the skills that a Sim can acquire is a cooking skill. With the cooking skill, the Sim can learn recipes and cook food to better satisfy their hunger health bars. If the Sim (or rather, the player) becomes proficient at cooking, the Sim can seek a profession in a culinary field. In a spin-off of The Sims 2, The Sims 2: Castaway also features cooking elements as part of the Sims' attempt to survive on a deserted island.

    Diner Dash: Sizzle and Serve

    • In Diner Dash: Sizzle and Serve, Flo has quit her boring desk job to build a franchise of classy, five-star restaurants. She starts out with a simple roadside dive and as her cooking and serving skills improve, she will work her way up to a five-star restaurant. Diner Dash has the fewest cooking elements among the other games mentioned, as the game's primary focus is on serving the customers as quickly as possible and keeping them happy. However, it has enough to almost be comparable to Hell's Kitchen on the DS, just without the angry chef yelling at the player.
