How to Load Movies onto a PSP

The Sony PSP is an all-around performer in the media entertainment department. It can play video games, music, surf the internet and even play movies. In order to get movies to play on your PSP, you need to load the movie onto the PSP memory stick. Memory sticks come in a variety of sizes, but 512MB is the bare minimum to hold any full-length movies.

      Begin by copying the movie to the computer. Insert the DVD or CD into the appropriate drive and then click "Start," "My Computer" and "CD/DVD." Select the movie file you want to copy, right-click on it, select "Copy," and then right-click in the folder you want to save it in and click "Paste."

      Link the PSP to the computer by inserting the USB cable into the PSP and the computer, with the PSP turned off. Turn the PSP on and go to "Settings" on the PSP and select "X" to begin the connection with the computer.

      Click "Start" and "My Computer" on the computer desktop and then double-click the icon labeled "Extra Volume," which is your PSP. Double-click the folder marked "PSP" to open that folder and then create a folder named "MP_ROOT" by right-clicking in the folder and selecting "New" and "New folder."

      Create another folder named "100mnv01" inside the "MP_ROOT" folder and save all of your movies in the "100mnv01" folder. To watch the movies, you need to go to that folder on your PSP and then start the MP4 movie files.
