Download Updates Directly to Your PSP
Fully charge the battery on your PSP.
Connect your AC adaptor to the PSP and then plug it into an outlet.
Insert a Memory Stick Duo into the appropriate slot on your PSP.
Select "Settings" from the Home menu.
Select "Network Update" and then press the "X" button.
Select your connection to connect to the network.
Wait while the system checks whether data is available to download.
Download the data.
When the download is finished, press button "X" to install the update.
Download Updates to Your PC
Connect your PSP to your PC with a USB cable.
Create a folder on the Memory Stick called "PSP."
Create a folder called "Game" within the "PSP" folder.
Create a folder called "Update" within the "Game" folder.
Download the software update to the "Update" folder. The update must be saved with the file name "EBOOT.PBP".
Fully charge the PSP battery then connect the AC adaptor to the PSP and plug it into an outlet.
Select "Game" from the "Home" menu and then select the "Memory Stick" icon.
Choose the "Update" option then press button "X" to update the system software.
