How to Make a CSO Game Work on Your PSP

The primary advantage of using a disk image file for your PlayStation Portable is that it preserves battery life. PSPs can accept two disk image formats: CSO and ISO. For CSO files to work on the PSP, you must place them in the correct folder, and the correct firmware driver must be selected.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the PSP on. When its interface loads, press the left directional button to scroll to "Settings." Press "X" to enter the Settings menu.

    • 2

Connect the PSP to a USB port on your computer.

    • 3

Use the PSP's directional buttons to scroll up to "USB Connection" in the Settings menu. Press "X." The PSP enters USB mode and your computer mounts the PSP's memory card as an external hard drive.

    • 4

Open the PSP's memory card on your computer. It will be listed as an external drive in "Computer." Double-click the icon to access the contents of the memory card.

    • 5

Open the folder named "ISO" in the memory card. All ISO and CSO game files must be placed in this folder.

    • 6

Drag and drop the CSO file you want to play on your PSP into the folder. Your computer transfers the CSO file onto the PSP's memory card.

    • 7

Eject the PSP's memory card from your computer. Right-click its icon in "Computer" and select "Eject" from the menu. The computer ejects the drive.

    • 8

Press the "O" button on the PSP to exit USB Connection mode. The PSP returns to the Settings menu display.

    • 9

Press the "Select" button. The PSP's firmware menu appears. This menu is used to adjust the way the PSP interfaces with files on its memory chip.

    • 10

Scroll to "UMD ISO Mode." When "UMD ISO Mode" is highlighted, press the up or down directional buttons until you see the "M33 Driver" option appear.

    • 11

Press "Select" to exit the firmware menu.

    • 12

Scroll to the "Game" sub-menu in the PSP's main menu, then press "X."

    • 13

Scroll to "Memory Stick" and press "X." A list of games on your PSP's memory card appears. The game on the CSO file you put on the card will appear in the list.

    • 14

Scroll through the list until the CSO game is highlighted. Press "X" to run the game.
