How to Get MHFU Online

Capcom's Monster Hunter series has sold tens of millions of copies, and the PlayStation Portable edition, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, was the first PSP game to sell over 3.5 million copies in Japan. The game plays best with a group of friends, but only includes support for local co-op over ad hoc wireless. Combining the game with a PlayStation 3, however, allows players to use the adhocParty application to connect online.

  Connect your PS3 to a wired Internet connection. While using adhocParty, your PS3's Wi-Fi becomes tied to your PSP, so you must use a wired connection to reach the Internet.

  Open the PlayStation Store on your PS3. Search for adhocParty and download the application.

  Quit to the dashboard and launch adhocParty from the "Game" menu.

  Turn on your PSP and set the Wi-Fi switch to "On." Launch Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

  Scroll down to "Search for Game" on your PS3 and press "X."

  Enter the Online Guild Hall within MHFU. Your PS3 will detect your PSP and display its name on the TV.

  Back out of the menu on the PS3 by pressing "O." Scroll up to "Start" and press "X."

  Press L1 and R1 to select a world, and the arrow buttons to pick a lobby. Lobbies group players together, so choose the same lobby as your friends to join them in-game.

  Wait for four players to join your lobby, and the game will load on your PSP. Leave your PS3 turned on and connected until you finish playing.
